We had a very successful garage sale yesterday. We cleared over $100. Not too shabby for a bunch of junk. The biggest surprise of the day was Alan's prowess as a salesman. Let me tell you, he was always closing!! I had no idea he had it in him. He sold more junk than I ever thought possible. As soon as someone ventured towards our driveway, he went in for the kill. He picked one item and pushed it hard. 90% of the time it sold! One by one, each item was carted away. I just sat in my chair completely and thoroughly shocked and impressed :)
He sold a car CD changer that may or may not work for $10, a digital camera that had sand in it $35 + $5 for the case, a set of gloves with matching scarf for $3, dirty & cobweb filled golf bag for $10...the list goes on and on and on. He even sold a bobble head doll of JC Chasez from N-Sync to an old man who didn't even know who N-Sync was for $0.50. If you are ever having a garage sale and need help, Alan is definitely the man to call!!
Sadly, the two things we really wanted gone were the old hand-me-down couches from the Zurns. As hard as Alan pushed, no one took the bait. Apparently, everyone else who was having a garage sale in the neighborhood was trying to get rid of couches. Ours didn't stand a chance with cat scratches, dog rips, and an overall sinking in of the cushions. Fortunately, Monday is trash amnesty day in Mauldin, so we can push those suckers to the curb and be free of them. Of course, we needed to get rid of them because the baby stuff is already taking over :)

Editor's note: I preferred to refer to our product as "fine wares". Plus, once you get your dollars out and are having a good time, why not buy an unopened, collectible bobble head for $0.50... afterall, "It could go for hundreds on e-bay..."
